Located at Norrlidstorget in the northern part of central Kalmar, our school is situated in a picturesque area. Here, just a stone's throw from Kalmarsund, there is proximity to outdoor activities, culture, and urban environment. Adjacent to the school, there is a multi-sport arena, football and basketball courts, playgrounds, running tracks, a skate park, and much more, creating opportunities for active breaks and a lively leisure time. Directly next to the school is a community and school library, sports hall, and a popular youth center.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to help strengthen students' learning, participation, and well-being? We are now looking for an engaged special education teacher for Kalmarsund School. Together with other colleagues in student health, you will be a central part of the work for a safe and accessible school.

In the role of special education teacher, you will work alongside the school's staff to develop inclusive practices and support students in need of special assistance. The work takes place at the individual, group, and school level, and you will collaborate closely with the school's teachers, special education teachers, school management, and other professionals in student health.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

• adapting teaching based on students' individual needs,
• mapping, investigating, and following up on interventions,
• designing, writing, and following up on USS and action plans,
• being a qualified conversation partner in the special educational development work,
• being part of the school's student health team,
• developing the systematic quality work in student health.

You will be part of a work team and primarily work with students in specific grade levels.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a special education teacher degree and teaching certification for grades F-6. It is an advantage if you have a special education teacher degree in mathematics.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, attentive, and confident in your profession. You meet students where they are, build trusting relationships, and help them develop both academically and personally. You are flexible, solution-oriented, and see opportunities in change and new working methods. You find it easy to collaborate and communicate with both students, guardians, and colleagues, and you demonstrate pedagogical creativity in adapting teaching to different needs.

Kalmar Municipality checks identity and work permits before anyone is hired. This means that you, as an applicant, need to show identification. If applicable, you may also need to present your residence and work permits.

As a permanent employee of Kalmar Municipality, you will be assigned to your workplace and are expected to contribute your work during heightened readiness.
